The close of finish will be strictly adhered to for reasons of safety. Competitors who do not achieve the following intermediary times will be not be permitted to continue the race:

Separate ranking lists will be issued for men and women. If fewer than three competitors are classified per category, the competitors will be ranked in the next lowest age group.


Entry fee

  • CHF 480.- for registrations till 3 March 2021
  • CHF 530.- for registrations till 7 July 2021
  • CHF 580.- for registrations till 14 August 2021

Included in the entry fee: 2x return trips Stechelberg – Schilthorn by Schilthorn aerial cableway, 2 x Pasta-Party on Friday and Saturday in Mürren, 2 bustransfers Stechelberg - Thun (to the start and after the run) on Saturday.



Prize money for women and men each:

  • 1st rank CHF 1500.-
  • 2nd rank CHF 1000.-
  • 3rd rank CHF 750.-
  • 4th rank CHF 500.-
  • 5th rank CHF 250.-

Cash prizes will be awarded in accordance with the “overall classification”. If less than 10 participants are classified, the prize moneys for the 4th and 5th rank will not be pay off. If Tax will be deducted at source for participants from outside Switzerland.

The winners of each catergory will receive a souvenir prize. Men overall rank 6-10 and women 6th place and the three first-places in each category will receive natural prizes as well.
All finishers will receive a INFERNO Triathlon-Finisher-T-Shirt. Participants who must stop the race because of the time limits/closing times will receive a INFERNO-T-Shirt.


Registratons and deregistrations

We accept your registration starting from Wednesday 11 November 2020.

Cancellations due to health reasons will be accepted on presentation of a doctor’s certificate. Refund of the entry fee will be liable to a CHF 50.- deduction for administration costs.


The INFERNO in Covid times

Depending on the current situation, a corresponding protection concept will apply to INFERNO 2021. Appropriate measures will be communicated on the website as early as possible. If the organization decides that the INFERNO 2021 cannot take place due to Covid-19, the registered participants can choose whether they wish to:

  • postpone the starting place to 2022
  • make a (partial) donation to the organization
  • would like to have the entry fee refunded minus a processing fee of CHF 50.00 (triathlon) or CHF 20.00 (half marathon)

Competition rules

The INFERNO TRIATHLON is carried out in accordance with the Swiss Triathlon Federation (tri) rules under the supervision of the tri adjudicators. No slipstream running (drafting).

Since 2009 the Inferno Triathlon is licence required! You can buy a 1 day licence, called Tages-StartPASS online in advance (CHF 42.50) or directly in Mürren at the check-in (CHF 50.00).

The licence for a whole year (called Jahres-StartPASS) can be ordered online at Swiss Triathlon and allows you to start at every licence required run in Switzerland.

Doping is prohibited.  The Swiss Olympic Association is authorized to carry out doping tests.


Competition regulations (extraxt)

The INFERNO Triathlon is held in Alpine and partially high-Alpine terrain. High demands are made on the personal responsibility of competitors.
The following competition regulations apply (extract):

  • The organizers may make changes to the course at any time.
  • In case of change of the routing or canellation of the event due to force majeure the organizer is not obligated to refund the starting fee.
  • Doctors and adjudicators deployed by the organizers may exclude competitors from the race if a health risk exists.
  • A wet suit (Neopren) is obligatory for the swimming discipline. Neopren gloves or socks may not be worn.
  • The cycle route is open to other traffic. It is imperative that road traffic regulations are observed.
  • The highest demands are made on equipment and materials. The organizers reserve the right to exclude from the competition athletes with inadequate or poorly maintained equipment (cycles and helmets).
